ABOUT OUR ORGANIZATION 

Safe Exit Initiative Inc, (SEI) is a survivor-led nonprofit organization where survivors of systems of prostitution and allies collaborate in providing support to victims and Survivors of the sex trade - populations that are routinely neglected and marginalized by society. Our mission is to provide quality exit services and supports to prostituted individuals and to end prostitution. We have developed a comprehensive approach to accomplishing our mission which includes advocacy for social change and justice for survivors, leading legislative initiatives at national, state, and local levels, providing training and consulting services to community-based partners such as medical providers, social services agencies, and law enforcement, and developing and delivering education and outreach services for community members and academic institutions. 


JANA’S PLACE 

SEI opened Jana’s Place in October 2019. Jana’s Place is the first-of-its-kind recovery home for women exiting prostitution and in early recovery from substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health disorders. We are looking for candidates excited to join a growing organization working to change the traditional model of recovery to meet the unique needs of women with histories of exploitation in the sex trade. Successful candidates must be open to learning how to implement a multifaceted treatment model, enthusiastic about helping women build their own paths to recovery and committed to creating a culture that promotes social change, reduces inequality for survivors and people in recovery, and embraces autonomy of patients in their own treatment. 


POSITION SUMMARY 

The Care Coordinator is responsible in assisting patients to obtain needed services by providing information, referral coordination, advocacy, and follow up. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Reduce the traditional power differential between Care Coordinator and patients 
  • Experience supporting survivors in the exiting process and navigating the complex and oppressive systems that prevent them from exiting, 
  • Be a key part of a collaborative team-management approach in delivering healing, recovery and treatment programming 
  • Work as a team with medical and clinical staff, and patients to determine referrals 
  • Develop and connect with resources that address substance use, mental health disorders, and other relevant community resources. 
  • Connect with Housing Resources and take people to their hearings and advocate for patients 
  • Meet with patients weekly for sessions/document session by end of shift 
  • Meet patients individually as needed for referrals 
  • Meet with Residential Counselors and Clinical Director weekly or as needed to determine referrals 
  • Coordinate medical and behavioral services offered through health insurance 
  • Coordinate Medication Assisted Recovery (MAR) and psychiatric services while patient is in the program 
  • Assist in aftercare planning 
  • Identify appropriate resources with patients, and advocate for services when needed 
  • Provide transportation to appointments 
  • Manage waitlist for the program 
  • Provide leadership, advocacy, and mentor ship to patients, staff, and the community 
  • Ability to provide guidance on different pathways to recovery and being accepting of a variety of pathways to recovery, including Medication Assisted Recovery (MAR) 
  • Assist Recovery Specialists with medications, transportation, groups, discharges, admissions, drug testing, household cleaning supplies, shopping, and supporting patients in achieving their goals. 
  • Completing necessary documentation by end of shift 
  • And any other tasks as assigned by Management 


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Lived experience with CSE preferred, but not required 
  • 2 years experience providing housing and resource navigation. 
  • A personal interest in, and commitment to working with women who have been impacted by CSE 
  • A flexible and positive attitude and belief in the process of surviving and healing from CSE and helping others do so as well 
  • Possess cultural sensitivity and adaptability to various personalities and background 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team 
  • Must be proactive, solutions-driven, and able to apply problem-solving techniques to a verity of situations 
  • Must be committed to guiding patients in creating their own recovery plan, rather than simply dictating outcomes and expectations 
  • Ability to recognize that one-size-fits-all approaches to recovery and treatment models do not exist, but that individuals require unique treatment models to achieve their recovery goals 
  • Must have an open-minded approach to all forms of recovery including and especially MAR 
  • Must have a basic understanding of the trauma-related impacts of CSE

Hourly Wage: Starting at $24/hour
