ABOUT OUR ORGANIZATION
Safe Exit Initiative, formally Living in Freedom Together, Inc. (LIFT), is a survivor-led nonprofit organization where survivors of systems of prostitution and allies collaborate to provide support to victims and survivors of the sex trade — populations that are routinely neglected and marginalized by society. Our mission is to provide quality exit services and support to prostituted individuals and to end prostitution. We have developed a comprehensive approach to accomplishing our mission, which includes advocacy for social change and justice for survivors; leading legislative initiatives at the national, state, and local levels; providing training and consulting services to community-based partners such as medical providers, social service agencies, and law enforcement; and developing and delivering education and outreach services for community members and academic institutions.

JANA’S PLACE
SEI opened Jana’s Place in October 2019. Jana’s Place is the first-of-its-kind recovery home for women exiting prostitution and in early recovery from substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health disorders. We are looking for candidates excited to join a growing organization working to change the traditional model of recovery to meet the unique needs of women with histories of exploitation in the sex trade. Successful candidates must be open to learning how to implement a multifaceted treatment model, enthusiastic about helping women build their own paths to recovery, and committed to creating a culture that promotes social change, reduces inequality for survivors and people in recovery, and embraces patients’ autonomy in their own treatment.

POSITION SUMMARY
Jana’s Place utilizes both Residential Counselors and Recovery Specialists (RS) to holistically address the needs of our participants. The RS provides peer and recovery support services for participants in the program. These services include, but are not limited to, facilitating support for participants in individual and group settings. Additionally, the RS provides support for participants experiencing challenges managing trauma-related symptoms and helps ensure Jana’s Place remains a safe environment for participants and staff alike.

This position requires the ability to work mixed shifts, including overnights, weekends, and holidays.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support participants in achieving individual recovery goals
• Assist participants with medication administration
• Assist participants with implementing and modeling grounding and healing strategies
• Facilitate individual and group support
• Facilitate non-clinical groups
• Support participants in strengthening fundamental life skills such as grocery shopping, housekeeping, meal preparation, and similar tasks
• Assist participants in developing time management skills and managing schedules and appointments
• Assist participants in creating, maintaining, and modifying a workable framework to support action steps associated with identified goals in their Recovery Plan
• Engage and support participants in adopting healthy lifestyle strategies
• Participate in regular staff meetings as directed
• Record and file necessary paperwork during shifts as needed
• Perform housekeeping and food preparation duties
• Communicate with staff members during shift changes, report critical incidents, and complete documentation in accordance with policy
• Accompany and transport participants to appointments as needed
• Complete basic daily documentation
• Assist in crisis intervention as needed
• Embrace a team approach to household management
• Perform any other tasks assigned by management

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Lived experience preferred, but not required
• Valid Driver’s License required
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Ability to apply independent judgment and determine appropriate courses of action, including during emergency situations
• Personal interest in and commitment to working with women impacted by CSE
• Flexible and positive attitude with belief in the healing and recovery process
• Cultural sensitivity and adaptability to various personalities and backgrounds
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

Hourly Wage: $20/hour
